St Patrick's Day Shining Stars, Arcadia, CA Grade Level: Grades K-5

The purpose of the Bulletin Board is to make the children aware of the significance of St. Patrick's Day. It also gives the teachers a chance to tell the students why the color green is worn and tell them the story of "The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow." Students are made aware that people celebrate the day with parades and wearing of the green. Also, they are told that one reason St. Patrick's Day might have become so popular is that it takes place just a few days before the first day of spring. One might say it has become the first green of spring. The bulletin board is made with the help of students using colored construction paper, tissue paper and other objects bought from an educational store.
