Rainbow Fish Alison Domangue, North Edison, New Jersey Grade Level: Pre-K

Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister is a wonderful book about friendship and sharing. I used this book to teach my class about these qualities. Each child made their own rainbow fish with one shiny scale to illustrate the end of the book when Rainbow Fish gives away his scales. The story says he will no longer be the most beautiful fish in the ocean, but he will have friends, which is so much more important. Alongside the artwork are excerpts from the book which help tell the story of the Rainbow Fish. Children can look at the board and "read" along with it.
