![]() My husband and I constructed a two story "treehouse" as my reading corner. The minute children walk into my room and see that there is a treehouse they are dying to climb in it. The newness of it doesn't wear off and I keep a rotating schedule so that all my students are certain to get a chance each week. On the under part of the treehouse is the listening center. Here I have all of my books on tape stored. I keep a basket of books that I have selected that goes with whatever comprehension strategy or theme we are studying. I also keep my big books, phonics phones, as well as a few reading buddies under there. For comfort the children lounge on an area rug with some throw pillows. The lamp adds a nice homey feeling to the area. In the upper part I keep throw pillows, phonics phones, magazines, and baskets of books from all genre including my favorite, poetry.
