Hop Into Spring , Shining Stars, Arcadia, CA Grade Level: K-5

The purpose of the Bulletin Board is that the display of bunnies, chicks, butterflies and daisies on a colorful landscape motivate young children to participate in fun-craft activities. During this kindergarten and first grade activity, teachers can encourage appropriate behavior, color recognition, name recognition, discussion on spring and how plants and trees begin to grow after the winter. Also, the children are explained the behavior of butterflies and chickens during the season of Spring. The kindergarten children learn different colors and how a certain color is made by mixing other colors. For instance, the chidren were shown that by using the colors of blue and yellow, the grass was painted green. Children used construction paper to make the chicks which teaches them to use scissors and cut accurately. In addition, markers were used by the students to paint the butterflies. The pattern for the chicks and butterflies were provided by the teachers. Overall the materials used to make this bulletin board were Bulletin board, large piece of white paper, assorted smaller colored construction paper, scissors, leaf and flower patterns.
