![]() This black and white mural was made to honor African Americans who have made major contributions to our society. The mural is very simple to make. I chose white bulletin paper as my backgound and black border to accent the subjects. I then made transparencies of the people I wanted in the mural and used an overhead to enlarge the images. I decided the mural needed a focal point, so I traced Dr. King larger than the others. Then, I made the decision as to where each person was going to be as I went along. I purposely did not write the names of the people on the mural because I had a contest to see which student could name the most people. I had three age groups: K-2, 3-4, and 5-6. The student who correctly named the most people in each group received a book on famous African Americans.
